A law firm in Fort Worth, TX, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent and Technical Specialist to enhance their intellectual property team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics, with strong experience in patent application preparation and prosecution. The role requires at least 2 years of relevant patent prosecution experience, along with technical expertise in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.

Duties:

  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications, including preparing claims, specifications, and responses to office actions.
  • Conduct technical analyses and evaluations related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
  • Perform prior art searches and assess patentability of inventions.
  • Collaborate with inventors, clients, and legal teams to develop patent strategies and manage intellectual property portfolios.
  • Provide expert advice on patent-related matters including patentability, infringement issues, and freedom-to-operate assessments.
  • Prepare and review patent-related documents and correspondence.
  • Stay current on patent laws, industry trends, and technological advancements to offer informed advice.
  • Support patent litigation and other IP disputes by providing technical expertise and documentation.
  • Efficiently manage multiple patent projects and ensure timely completion of tasks.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
  • Proven experience with patent application preparation and prosecution.
  • Technical experience in wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.

Certifications:

  • Registration with the USPTO required.

Skills:

  • Expertise in patent application preparation and prosecution.
