Counsel - Legal Services Department at MFS in Boston

This role requires someone with strong legal expertise and experience in the financial services industry. As Counsel, you will provide legal counsel, planning, and services on complex matters and issues to MFS and its subsidiary companies. You will also have the opportunity to work with business group leaders and external counsel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support growth in new markets.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide legal counsel, planning, and services to MFS and its subsidiary companies on complex matters and issues
- Review and determine applicability of new or evolving regulatory requirements and ensure compliance
- Work with business group leaders to ensure understanding of specific regulations and the general regulatory environment
- Negotiate, draft, and review a variety of agreements
- Manage external counsel in jurisdictions where MFS may not have appropriate experience
- Monitor changes to global regulations and advise internal stakeholders
- Follow established procedures and policies to ensure work is completed on time
- Manage support team by providing direction, training, and coaching

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate degree required
- 6-8+ years of post-bar work experience, ideally in investment management, financial services, or a related industry
- Must be a member in good standing of the Bar and maintain necessary licenses and professional qualifications
- Experience with financial services preferred
