Job Summary:

TDI is seeking a Part-Time Employment Law Attorney to join their dynamic team in the General Counsel Division. The attorney will provide legal advice and representation on employment law and ethics matters, as well as participate in projects related to policy development and legislative changes. The ideal candidate will have excellent legal research and writing skills, as well as experience with state and federal employment laws.

Job Description:

- Provide legal advice to agency staff on federal and state employment laws and regulations
- Review and draft legal documents and regulations related to employment law
- Represent the agency in employment law matters, negotiations, and mediations
- Participate in administrative hearings and assist the Office of the Attorney General in preparing litigation cases
- Analyze agency compliance with employment and ethics laws
- Draft and analyze state and federal legislation

Qualifications:

- Juris Doctor (.) or Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from an accredited law school
- Licensure as an attorney to practice law in Texas
- Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
- 4 years of experience with state and federal employment laws (law clerk experience can be counted)

Additional Details:

- Regular work attendance required
- May be eligible for hybrid work schedule
- Must have secure, dedicated workspace with reliable internet
- Must be available for weekly meetings and collaboration during regular business hours

Preferences:

- Recent employment law experience
- Experience advising in-house staff and management on legal issues
- Recent experience with employment-related litigation or administrative complaints
- Recent experience conducting investigations related to employment issues
- Recent experience advising clients on ethics matters

Skills Required:

- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Strong legal research and writing skills, including plain English legal writing
- Ability to analyze legal problems and identify solutions
- Project management and/or team leadership experience
