SALARY: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience. Legal Administrative Assistant Position Summary A Legal Administrative Assistant assists attorneys and paralegals through the performance of complex and substantive legal tasks requiring knowledge of legal terminology and the legal process. The Legal Administrative Assistant is required to handle strict confidential client and firm data in a professional and ethical manner on a daily basis and provide attorneys with assistance as defined below. Working Relationships The Legal Administrative Assistant reports to the assigned attorney(s) and office manager for administrative matters. There are no supervisory responsibilities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The primary duties and responsibilities of the Legal Administrative Assistant include but are not limited to: * Providing support to assigned attorney(s) and paralegal(s) * Formatting documents into final form, proofreading, copying, scanning, mailing, etc. * Processing incoming and outgoing mail * Filing/e-filing documents with courts and/or agencies * Opening/closing files, consistent with department and firm practice * Scheduling conference calls, meetings, and travel * Managing data and preparing presentations as needed * Office duties including copying, scanning, faxing, time entry, call edit, filing, etc. * Managing and calendar time * Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required The Legal Administrative Assistant must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of administrative office experience. A Bachelor’s degree may substitute for experience. In addition, the Legal Administrative Assistant must possess the ability to multitask, pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously under tight schedule; ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors; strong communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to manage others as needed; proficient computer skills (strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and internet applications; ability to work overtime, as needed, to meet deadlines; ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment; and ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion. Preference is given to candidates with one year of experience working in a law firm with heavy volume. Working Conditions The Legal Administrative Assistant must be able to lift up to 20 pounds, sit for prolonged periods of time, and stretch and reach. The work environment is an indoor office setting that requires extended periods of time working on a PC and may require occasional overtime and/or travel.
