Job Overview: A well-established law firm is seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its long-term care/health care team. The position involves providing counsel on regulatory and risk-management issues, including licensing, survey and certification issues, compliance, and changes of ownership. The ideal candidate will work in a hybrid remote capacity from one of the firm’s various offices and will receive extensive training and support to develop expertise in the health care field.

Location:

  • Albany, NY

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on critical long-term care/health law areas, such as licensing, survey and certification, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid compliance, and Certificate of Need (CON) issues.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and high-quality service.
  • Actively participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development activities.
  • Stay up-to-date on evolving health care laws and regulations, contributing to the firm’s thought leadership.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across various departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients.
  • Maintain a minimum of 1800 billable hours annually.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in corporate or litigation law; health care experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts Bar required; ability to waive into other jurisdictions preferred.
  • Strong candidates with less experience who show a passion for health care law and a willingness to learn will also be considered.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to quickly absorb and process new information.
  • High standards of performance, conscientiousness, and dedication.
  • Professional, cooperative, and flexible attitude.
  • Military experience is welcome.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts Bar (in good standing).
  • Ability to waive into other jurisdictions is a plus.
