Defend regulatory investigations related to security

Draft, revise, and negotiate data and technology contracts with service providers and commercial customers
Advise M&A deal teams and other firm colleagues on cybersecurity matters
Stay up-to-date on changes and developments in cybersecurity and data privacy laws and regulations
Collaborate with team members on client matters and projects
Manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals

Qualifications:

2-4 years of legal experience
Foundational knowledge in federal, state and foreign cybersecurity laws
Strong interest in technology and forensic investigations
Experience liaising with various parties involved in data security incidents
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Commitment to ongoing learning and development in cybersecurity and data privacy laws
Admission to bar in state of practice

Salary Information:

The salary range for this position is $235,000 - $310,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This range is specific to the locations of New York, New York City, Colorado, and California and may not be applicable to other locations. The actual salary for an individual will be determined based on their qualifications and experience.

The Data Strategy, Security & Privacy team at a leading law firm is seeking a tech-oriented associate with 2-4 years of legal experience in cybersecurity counseling and incident response. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in working with cutting-edge technology and regulations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

- Advise clients on compliance with cybersecurity laws
- Defend regulatory investigations related to security

- Prefer experience liaising with claims counsel, outside forensic experts, credit monitoring/notice providers, and other approved vendors
- Attention to detail and strong organizational and project management experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to draft materials in business-friendly language
- Commitment to continue developing proficiency in cybersecurity and data privacy laws and skills
- Admission to bar in state of practice
