Job Title: Team Manager Farmworker Team
Organization: Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Inc. (TRLA)
Experience: At least 5 years of federal litigation experience in employment law preferred
Location: Brownsville - Eagle Pass - Edinburg - El Paso - Del Rio - Harlingen - Laredo - Weslaco
Salary: Dependent on experience and commensurate with salaries paid by other LSC-funded legal services programs

Responsibilities:

• Oversee TRLA’s Farmworker Practice Area, representing agricultural workers throughout the state of Texas
• Manage a multi-state docket, including throughout the Southwest and Midwest
• Familiarity with laws and legal processes impacting farmworkers
• Supervise staff and direct the team’s legal docket
• Advocate and collaborate with other administrative agencies enforcing farmworker rights
• Implement strategic and creative legal strategies to positively impact farmworkers
• Supervise planning and execution of outreach to migrant farmworkers in Texas
• Establish strong rapport with low-wage migrant farmworkers and community partners
• Direct administrative processes to guarantee quality of services and efficient operations
• Conduct regular case reviews, recruit and evaluate staff, and implement TRLA policies and procedures
• Advocate for farmworker clients and staff as part of TRLA’s Labor and Employment Practice Group

Qualifications:

• Membership in good standing in any state bar; willingness to become licensed in Texas
• Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish strongly preferred
• Proven litigation skills and management experience
• Commitment to workers’ rights and understanding of the unique needs of low-wage workers
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and build trust with staff and lead advocacy with governmental and other non-profit or social service agencies
• Experience in project management or other supervisory roles preferred
• Ability to mentor and coordinate a team of lawyers, paralegals, and support staff across geographically distant offices
• Strong office management organizational skills and ability to implement systems to ensure compliance with requirements and meeting case deadlines
• Creative thinking and willingness to implement unconventional strategies
• Experience working with diverse populations, including non-English-speaking and migrant communities
• Demonstrated commitment to social justice and knowledge of TRLA service delivery area

We are looking for a Team Manager to oversee our Farmworker Practice Area, which represents agricultural workers throughout the state of Texas.

Responsibilities and Qualifications for Team Manager at TRLA

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of federal litigation experience in employment law and be a member in good standing of any state bar, with a willingness to become licensed in Texas. Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish is strongly preferred. They should also have proven litigation skills, management experience, a commitment to workers’ rights, and the ability to establish trusting relationships with staff and low-income clients.

As the Farmworker Team Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the team’s legal docket, advocating and collaborating with other administrative agencies, and implementing strategic and creative legal strategies to positively impact farmworkers.
