Job Overview: A law firm seeks a motivated Collection & Bankruptcy Attorney to lead its Indiana practice, managing consumer and commercial debt collection cases while handling creditor bankruptcy matters and replevins. This position offers the opportunity to operate as a solo practitioner within a satellite office, supported by an onsite paralegal and a well-established firm. The ideal candidate will have experience in debt collection and a foundational understanding of bankruptcy law, with training provided by the firm’s experienced bankruptcy team. The role offers a hybrid work environment with both in-office and remote options.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of consumer and commercial debt collection matters for national and regional creditors across Indiana.
  • Review and approve pleadings, motions, and execution orders.
  • Handle cases involving collections, replevins, and bankruptcy, representing creditors in state and federal bankruptcy courts.
  • File lawsuits, attend court hearings, and negotiate settlements on behalf of creditors.
  • Provide regular updates to clients, advise on legal matters, and respond to their questions.
  • Attend all court matters related to the assigned caseload.
  • Market the firm’s services within Indiana to grow business opportunities.
  • Assist with client audits and attend professional conferences as required.
  • Oversee the Indiana office, ensuring all tasks align with the firm's processes and resources.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in consumer and commercial debt collection, with knowledge of the FDCPA and CFPB regulations.
  • Active law license in Indiana (additional licenses in other states are a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and a willingness to handle tasks at all levels to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with BKFS and Tempo software is a plus.
  • Ability to travel within Indiana for court matters as required.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Indiana State Bar license.
