A law firm seeks a talented and driven General Litigation Associate Attorney to join its defense team in Indianapolis, IN. The successful candidate will focus on general litigation, including medical malpractice and general liability defense. This position offers the opportunity to engage in a variety of legal work, from written discovery and legal research to trial practice, within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Duties:

  • Handle written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories and requests for production
  • Review case records and documents, identifying critical information to support litigation strategies
  • Conduct legal research to support case development and assist with pre-trial motions
  • Meet with clients to provide case updates, discuss strategy, and manage ongoing litigation matters
  • Prepare and argue briefs, motions, and other legal documents in court
  • Attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial proceedings, providing support as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to develop legal strategies and resolve complex cases

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Indiana
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Experience or interest in medical malpractice and general liability defense

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing with the Indiana State Bar

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research and writing, particularly in litigation-related matters
  • Strong understanding of legal principles, particularly in defense litigation
  • Ability to manage cases and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients
  • Familiarity with trial preparation and court proceedings
