The Day Pitney 2L Diversity Fellowship Program provides $15,000 awards (less any applicable withholdings) to a select number of qualified second-year law students to help cover law school expenses in addition to offering a salaried position in our 2024 summer associate program. The $15,000 award is contingent upon the student receiving and accepting an offer to join Day Pitney’s 2024 summer associate program and receiving and accepting an offer to join the firm as a full-time associate following law school graduation. To be eligible for consideration for Day Pitney’s 2L Diversity Fellowship Program, applicants must be a full-time second-year law student enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school and demonstrate: * Exceptional academic achievement and leadership qualities; * Involvement in diversity organizations, and contributions to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession; * Commitment to community service and serving clients in need; * Membership in a diverse population that historically has been underrepresented in the legal profession; * Diverse background, interests, work experience and perspectives that will strengthen our practices; * Excellent communication skills; * . citizenship or being authorized to work in the United States; and * Interest in joining Day Pitney as an associate after law school graduation. Summer Associate Program Day Pitney’s smaller summer associate class size allows us to get to know you better, including your skills and interests, in order to provide individualized opportunities and support. As a participant in our 2024 Summer Associate Program, you will have opportunities to: * Work on challenging, interesting and diverse projects that reflect the variety of real client work of the firm; * Work with industry leaders and gain hands-on experience; * Learn about our culture, attorneys, industries, practice areas and clients; * Receive formal and informal mentoring and training, including skill development training and shadowing opportunities; * Network and build relationships with Day Pitney attorneys across all offices; and * Receive formal and informal constructive feedback on your work. We welcome candidates with diverse and varied backgrounds and interests, particularly those who come from underserved and historically underrepresented backgrounds. You must be a second-year law student (expected to receive . in 2025) to be considered for our 2024 Summer Associate Program. Preferably, you will have/be: * Stellar academic achievements that demonstrate drive, passion and leadership ability; * Demonstrated interest, including coursework and previous professional work experience in one of our industry sectors; * Strong written and verbal communication skills in a variety of settings; * A self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team; * Curious and eager to learn and take ownership of your career development; * An expressed interest in our geographic markets, and commitment to public service in the communities we live and serve.
