Job Overview:

A law firm specializing in estate planning and trust administration is seeking a qualified Associate Attorney. This role involves working with both foundational estate planning and advanced asset protection for high-net-worth individuals. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of estate planning, trust administration, corporate law, and real estate law, along with excellent communication and analytical skills.

Location:

  • Kalamazoo, Michigan

Duties:

  • Prepare and draft estate planning documents, including wills, trusts (revocable and irrevocable), powers of attorney, premarital agreements, and related legal documents
  • Advise and consult fiduciaries in probate and trust administration, and prepare necessary documents for probate court filings
  • Form legal entities such as limited liability companies and non-profits
  • Draft and review legal documents related to real estate transactions
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal standards and regulations

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in estate planning and/or estate and trust administration (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of estate planning, trust administration, corporate law, and real estate law
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Michigan

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities for client interaction and team collaboration
  • High attention to detail and organization in document preparation
  • Proficiency in estate law practices and a client-focused approach to legal services
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
