The role involves providing counsel to agricultural and food industry clients, including drafting and reviewing contracts, offering risk management advice, and assisting with regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of or a desire to learn about the local, national, and global agricultural and food systems.

Duties

• Provide legal counsel to agricultural and food industry clients on various legal matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to food and agribusiness operations.
• Advise clients on risk management strategies and legal issues.
• Assist with permitting, regulatory compliance, and governmental oversight.
• Develop an understanding of agricultural and food systems both locally and globally.
• Build relationships and establish trust with clients in the food and agribusiness sectors.
• Stay informed about developments in food and agribusiness law.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in the practice of law, preferably with a focus on food and agribusiness.
• Strong interest in food, agriculture, and related industries.
• Ability to draft and review complex legal documents, including contracts and agreements.
• Experience or willingness to advise clients on regulatory and compliance matters.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active member of the state bar in good standing (or eligibility for admission to the bar).
