A distinguished law firm located in New York City is seeking an experienced Partner to lead its Employment Law practice. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Employment Law practice, representing clients on a broad range of labor and employment matters, including discrimination claims, wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, and compliance with federal and state labor laws.
- Manage a client portfolio generating a minimum of $600,000 annually in portable business, with a focus on expanding the practice through client acquisition and retention.
- Advise corporate and individual clients on employment contracts, severance agreements, workplace policies, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide counsel to employers on risk management strategies, employee relations, and litigation avoidance measures.
- Represent clients in employment-related litigation, arbitration, and before governmental agencies such as the EEOC and NLRB.
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, providing guidance on case strategy and legal research to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.
- Engage in active business development by leveraging personal networks, participating in industry events, and identifying new business opportunities to grow the firm’s employment law practice.
- Contribute to the firm’s ongoing diversity initiatives, promoting an inclusive and culturally responsive workplace.
Requirements:
- At least 8 years of experience specializing in Employment Law, with a proven record of success in both litigation and advisory capacities.
- Demonstrated ability to attract and retain clients, with a portable book of business generating at least $600,000 annually.
- Experience in handling complex employment disputes, including discrimination claims, wage and hour class actions, and high-stakes negotiations.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor junior attorneys and lead litigation teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal arguments to clients, courts, and regulatory bodies clearly and persuasively.
- Deep understanding of federal and state labor and employment laws, as well as industry trends affecting employer compliance.
Education and Certifications:
- Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the New York State Bar (or eligibility for reciprocity).
- Additional certifications in employment law or alternative dispute resolution are a plus.
