A law firm seeks a highly motivated Associate Attorney with a strong background in accessibility and employment litigation to join its dynamic team in New York, NY. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex matters involving disability accommodation laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other related regulations. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of both physical and digital accessibility issues and will actively contribute to managing litigation, regulatory investigations, compliance counseling, and policy development. Duties

  • Represent clients in employment litigation, with a focus on accessibility and disability accommodation laws (ADA, Rehabilitation Act, and state/local regulations).
  • Handle Title III of the ADA matters, including litigation and compliance-related work involving public accommodations and both physical and digital entities.
  • Conduct accessibility audits and manage relationships with external auditors for both brick-and-mortar facilities and websites/mobile applications.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement compliance strategies and policies related to accessibility.
  • Lead and participate in regulatory investigations (including DOJ inquiries), advocacy group interactions, and various forms of dispute resolution.
  • Manage various aspects of litigation, including witness interviews, drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery.
  • Conduct and defend depositions, interact with clients and opposing counsel, and attend court appearances.
  • Provide ongoing legal counsel and guidance to clients regarding compliance with federal and state employment laws, focusing on accessibility and disability accommodation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in employment litigation, with a focus on accessibility laws and regulations.
  • Solid knowledge of Title III of the ADA and public accommodation accessibility issues (both physical and digital).
  • Experience with accessibility audits and managing external auditors for both brick-and-mortar locations and digital platforms (websites, mobile apps).
  • General employment litigation experience, including the ability to draft motions, pleadings, and various legal documents.
  • Experience with depositions, client interactions, and attending court appearances.
  • Strong advocacy skills, with a commitment to representing clients in complex legal matters.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
  • Must be admitted to practice law in New York (state and federal courts).

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in New York (both state and federal courts).

Skills

  • Expertise in accessibility and disability accommodation laws, including ADA, Rehabilitation Act, and state/local regulations.
  • Familiarity with digital accessibility, including websites and mobile applications.
  • Strong litigation skills, including drafting motions, pleadings, and briefs.
