The ideal candidate should possess patent preparation and prosecution experience in the software, computer science, electrical or mechanical areas. Associates have an exciting opportunity to learn from and work closely with energetic, high experienced patent practitioners in a friendly, cooperative environment.

The Intellectual Property Associate – Patent (Software/Computer Science/ Electrical/Mechanical) will have the following responsibilities:

Simultaneously handle the high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages of progression, from inception to conclusion
Possess strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills for communicating with attorneys and clients
Demonstrate an ability to work independently and productively and show a strong interest in advancing a career in Intellectual Property law
Produce quality legal work and bill the required amounts of hours to ensure excellent client services
Manage business and generate business through group and individual efforts
Comply with the very highest ethical standards of the legal profession

Qualifications for the Intellectual Property Associate – Patent (Software/Computer Science/ Electrical/Mechanical) position include:

Juris Doctor
Preferably a Bachelor or higher in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the Firm conducts business; must maintain applicable license renewal and CLE requirements; Registered to practice before the USPTO
1 year experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm
Preferably 2-8 years’ experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm
Indirect supervisory responsibilities – actively utilizes support staff or junior associates to ensure client satisfaction
