A law firm in Garland, TX, is seeking a motivated Personal Injury Associate Attorney (Pre-suit and Litigation) to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of experience practicing plaintiff personal injury law in Texas, with substantial knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence. The attorney will manage a diverse caseload of personal injury cases, including auto accidents, slip and falls, premises liability, and wrongful death cases while working closely with clients, negotiating settlements, and taking cases to trial.

Duties:

  • Communicate with clients to understand the extent of their injuries and provide updates throughout the legal process.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance companies, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties.
  • Manage and oversee support staff and case files, ensuring timely progression of cases.
  • Conduct legal research, draft demands, motions, and responses to motions.
  • Take depositions, lead mediations, and develop strategic case plans to move cases forward.
  • Represent clients in court, including taking cases to trial when necessary.
  • Work with experts from various medical and other disciplines to assist with report drafting, deposition preparation, and expert testimony.
  • Draft and respond to discovery, and handle all litigation-related tasks as needed.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies for personal injury cases.
  • Attorneys with a portable caseload will receive preferential consideration.

Requirements:

  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • 1-2 years of experience in pre-suit and litigation plaintiff personal injury law in Texas.
  • Some litigation experience, including drafting and responding to motions.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Substantial knowledge of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of Evidence.
  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish are preferred.
  • Excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a heavy caseload.

Education:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research, drafting, and litigation strategy.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and oversee support staff.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to work effectively with clients, support staff, and opposing counsel.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience practicing plaintiff personal injury law, with knowledge of both pre-suit and litigation phases.
  • Experience with personal injury cases such as auto accidents, slip and falls, premises liability, and wrongful death cases.
