A law firm in New York City, NY is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Labor and Employment Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience. The role involves handling a variety of employment-related litigation matters, including discrimination cases, wage and hour class actions, contract disputes, and administrative proceedings before agencies such as the Department of Labor and human rights agencies. Additionally, the position includes transactional work, providing advice and counseling, conducting wage and hour audits, and preparing employment-related documents. The ideal candidate will have superior academic and writing credentials, along with admission to the New York Bar; admission to the NJ, PA, or CT Bar(s) is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in employment litigation matters in federal and state courts.
  • Handle discrimination cases, wage and hour disputes, and contract disputes.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex employment law issues.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Provide counsel and strategic advice to clients on employment-related matters.
  • Conduct wage and hour audits and ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Prepare and review employment agreements, severance agreements, workplace policies, and employee handbooks.
  • Conduct employment training sessions for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on developments in labor and employment law.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
  • 2-5 years of experience in employment-related litigation and transactional work.
  • Experience handling discrimination cases, wage and hour class actions, and contract disputes.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
  • NJ, PA, or CT Bar admissions are desirable.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with traditional labor law and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience conducting employment training sessions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
