Job Overview:
A prominent, retired Immigration Judge has launched a premier immigration practice and is looking for a dedicated and experienced Immigration Attorney to join the team. The ideal candidate should possess a robust background in immigration law and have the ability to navigate complex immigration processes. Location:
Duties:
- Provide legal counsel to individuals, families, and businesses on various immigration matters, including permanent residency, naturalization, asylum, removal defense, work visas, and family-based petitions.
- Represent clients in immigration court, including preparation for hearings, appeals, motions to reopen, and other proceedings.
- Assist with consular processing, including visa interviews, waivers, and other consular matters.
- Advise clients on eligibility for visas and other immigration benefits based on their specific circumstances.
- Draft legal briefs, motions, and supporting documentation for appeals and motions.
- Collaborate with legal assistants and paralegals in preparing case files and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Stay informed about changes in immigration laws, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing immigration law, with a focus on family-based, employment-based, asylum, and removal defense cases.
- Proven experience with immigration litigation, including in-depth knowledge of immigration court processes.
- Ability to provide clear and concise legal advice and representation to clients.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a large caseload.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to exceptional client service.
- Fluency in Spanish or Russian is a plus, but not required.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active bar membership in good standing (New York Bar preferred).
