Job Overview:

A prominent law firm based in Houston, TX is seeking a skilled and motivated Estate Planning Associate Attorney to join its expanding practice. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive legal counsel in estate planning, probate, and trust law. Ideal candidates will have a passion for helping clients navigate complex estate matters while ensuring accurate, compliant, and personalized solutions.

Duties:

  • Client Consultations & Representation: Provide expert guidance throughout the estate planning process, from initial consultation to document drafting and final planning.
  • Drafting & Reviewing Legal Documents: Prepare and review a variety of estate planning documents, such as wills, trusts, affidavits, and court filings, ensuring compliance with Texas probate laws.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build strong, lasting relationships with clients through clear and transparent communication, addressing inquiries, and providing timely updates on case progress.
  • Estate Plan Updates: Regularly assess and update estate plans in response to changes in the client’s circumstances, such as marriage, divorce, birth of children, or significant financial changes.
  • Legal Research & Analysis: Stay current on Texas estate planning laws, trends, and regulatory changes, conducting thorough legal research to inform case strategies.
  • Court Representation: Represent clients at court hearings, mediations, and trials as required, advocating effectively for their interests.
  • Tax Strategy Guidance: Assist clients with understanding and minimizing estate and gift tax liabilities by implementing effective tax strategies.

Requirements:

  • Texas Bar Admission: Must be licensed to practice law in Texas and good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience practicing estate planning law with a proven track record in managing cases from initial consultation to resolution.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Ability to work well within a team, contribute to the firm's culture, and maintain a positive, client-centered approach.
  • Skills:
    • Strong writing, research, and analytical abilities.
    • Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills.
    • Proficient in legal research tools and case management software.
    • Exceptional communication skills for client and colleague interactions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Texas State Bar Admission (required).
