As an Employment and Labor Associate at our Kansas City office, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of highly skilled and experienced lawyers who are passionate about their work. You will have the chance to handle a variety of employment matters and have the support and guidance of partners to help you grow and develop your skills.

We are looking for someone who is a team player, has strong writing and analytical skills, and is able to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues. The ideal candidate will have 1-4 years of employment litigation and counseling experience, with trial experience being a plus. Experience or interest in commercial or franchise litigation is also a bonus.

Responsibilities and Practice

As an Employment and Labor Associate, you will have a range of responsibilities that will include, but are not limited to:

- Assisting in day-to-day employment and human-resources counseling for clients
- Reviewing, analyzing and drafting employment agreements, employee handbooks, severance agreements and other employment documents
- Handling and managing employment-litigation matters, including non-compete disputes, single-plaintiff employment cases and administrative matters
- Taking and defending depositions in employment-litigation matters and managing written-discovery phrases of litigation matters
- Providing guidance to clients on sensitive personnel issues and policy review and implementation
- Supporting the employment aspects of due diligence in mergers and acquisitions
- Assisting with formulating legal strategy on litigation matters
- Performing work on other matters as needed
