News & World Report, is seeking a highly organized and skilled Legal Assistant with 1-2 years of experience to join our team at our Woodbury, Long Island office. Job Responsibilities - Prepare, edit, and proofread various legal documents including correspondence, agreements, and pleadings - Manage and assist with complex document production, including Bates Stamping - Draft simple pleadings and correspondence - Prepare court filings and file with various courts, both traditional and e-filings - Create Tables of Contents and Authorities using Microsoft Word and ensure accuracy - Prepare and finalize discovery materials - Communicate with court staff regarding various issues - Maintain calendars, schedule meetings, depositions, and conference calls, track deadlines and case status, and update attorneys on court deadlines - Prepare Trial Memorandum and calendar all appearances and deadlines - Schedule local and out-of-town depositions and conference rooms, and coordinate with court reporters and videographers - Coordinate Mediation dates - Assist with trial preparation, including creating trial notebooks and coordinating with copy services for trial copies - Answer phones, take detailed messages, and follow up with attorneys, clients, and outside counsel as needed - Other duties as needed to support the firm and office operations Qualifications - Previous law firm experience preferred - Exceptional organization skills - Excellent writing and communication skills - Ability to multitask and prioritize workload - Teamwork oriented - Proficient in Microsoft Office programs - Knowledge of legal terminology and principles - Ability to analyze legal documents and ensure accuracy - Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Salary Information The total annual compensation range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
