Hall Booth Smith, . is a full-service law firm with offices located throughout the Southeast. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced legal secretary to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in litigation, preferably with a background in family law. This position offers a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work with a dynamic and diverse team of attorneys.

Job Title: Legal Secretary
Department: Litigation
Experience: 2+ years

Responsibilities:
- Transcribing dictation and formatting letters, pleadings, and other forms
- Preparing rough drafts and proofreading legal documents before finalizing
- Copying and mailing letters, documents, and packages to various parties
- Properly filing legal documents with the courts and cc/bcc'ing appropriate parties
- Opening new files, performing conflict checks, and drafting engagement letters
- Maintaining accurate file content, indexes, and tabulations
- Entering attorney billable time and proofreading and balancing as needed
- Managing attorney calendars and scheduling depositions
- Reviewing and confirming client bills and forwarding for payment
- Closing and preparing files for storage
- Assisting paralegals in preparing files for upcoming hearings and depositions
- Answering and screening calls for attorneys and communicating with professionalism and tact
- Participating in strategic planning committees
- Mentoring and training new employees in the position
- Performing receptionist duties as needed
- Remaining flexible and open to requests for support or assistance outside of the scope of this job description

Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a legal secretary, preferably in litigation and family law
- Knowledge of court rules and filing requirements
- Familiarity with various legal document formats
- Strong spelling, diction, and grammar skills
- Organizational, prioritization, proofreading, and attention to detail skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Interpersonal skills for communicating with attorneys, staff, and clients
- Typing speed of 70 wpm and proficiency with computers and office equipment
- Availability to work occasional overtime and travel to offsite locations
