A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a highly qualified Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Counsel to join its team. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience providing advice to businesses on health and welfare plans, including compliance with various regulations and the resolution of administration issues. The role involves drafting and negotiating service provider agreements and offering proactive advice on compliance and litigation matters affecting employee benefit plans.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise businesses on health and welfare plans, covering various aspects such as wrap plans, cafeteria plans, and flexible benefits arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, TiC, and CAA 21.
  • Draft and negotiate service provider agreements related to employee benefits.
  • Resolve issues pertaining to the administration of health and welfare plans.
  • Provide proactive advice to employers on compliance and litigation matters affecting employee benefit plans.
  • Provide advice on all aspects of health and welfare plans, including wrap plans, cafeteria plans, and flexible benefits arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), COBRA, HIPAA, Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, TiC, and CAA 21.
  • Draft and negotiate service provider agreements related to employee benefits.
  • Resolve issues concerning the administration of health and welfare plans.

 

Experience: The ideal candidate will have substantial experience providing proactive advice to employers on compliance and litigation issues affecting health and welfare employee benefit plans.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the State Bar and in good standing.
  • Extensive experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law.
  • Strong knowledge of the Affordable Care Act, COBRA, HIPAA, Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, TiC, and CAA 21 compliance.

 

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • A proactive approach to providing legal advice.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex legal issues related to employee benefits and executive compensation.
