Job Overview:

The Mid-Level Associate Attorney will primarily handle divorce and family law cases, providing strategic legal advice and representation to clients. They will be responsible for communicating with clients, preparing for hearings, drafting legal documents, and staying updated on relevant laws and regulations.

Duties:

  • Effectively communicate with clients, opposing parties, court, and others
  • Analyze client situations and needs to create strategic plans of action
  • Prepare for hearings and represent clients in court proceedings
  • Draft pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, and other legal documents
  • Review and monitor new laws and regulations
  • Continuously update clients on case developments
  • Counsel clients on settlement options versus contesting issues
  • Promote an excellent client experience
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Senior Attorney

Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience working in a family law firm in SE Wisconsin
  • Admitted to practice law in Wisconsin and satisfactory standing with the State Bar
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Skills:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in basic business software (MS Office Suite), Email client software, case management software
  • Familiarity with legal research software (Westlaw, Lexis) and other computer and telephone technology as required
