TRLA is committed to promoting justice and ensuring equal access to the legal system for all individuals, regardless of their income or background. Position Summary: TRLA is seeking a full-time staff attorney to join the Veterans Advocacy Project. The attorney will provide civil legal services to veterans in a variety of areas, including housing, benefits, employment, and family law. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, empathetic, and dedicated to serving low-income populations. Responsibilities: The Staff Attorney for the Veterans Advocacy Project will be responsible for: - Evaluating clients' claims and determining appropriate legal remedies - Providing direct representation to clients in all stages of litigation and advocacy - Offering counsel to individuals seeking civil legal assistance - Establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners to ensure integrated services for veterans - Supporting civil legal services for veterans throughout the 68-county TRLA service area - Participating in education and outreach efforts to raise awareness about legal issues facing low-income veterans and their families Qualifications: TRLA is looking for candidates who are committed to promoting justice and serving those in need. The ideal candidate will have: - A JD from an accredited university - A license to practice law in Texas or willingness to take the next available Texas bar exam - Experience working with low-income populations - Experience working with veterans - Experience collaborating with community services/partners - Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) Compensation and Benefits: Salary will be based on experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
