Duties:
- Represent clients in family law litigation, including matters involving divorce, custody, child support, alimony, and property division.
- Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, agreements, and case summaries tailored to each client’s circumstances.
- Conduct legal research to stay current on changes in family law statutes and evolving case precedents.
- Attend and advocate at court hearings, mediation sessions, settlement conferences, and trials.
- Provide clients with clear legal advice, ensuring they understand their options at every stage of the process.
- Collaborate with paralegals, administrative staff, and other attorneys to ensure smooth and efficient case management.
- Develop case strategies aligned with each client’s goals, while adapting to changes as cases progress.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing family law litigation.
- Proven ability to handle multiple active cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to strategize creatively in complex or contentious matters.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain legal issues to clients in clear, accessible language.
- Collaborative mindset, comfortable working closely with a team-oriented legal support staff.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active law license in Maryland, in good standing.
Skills:
- Expertise in family law litigation, including negotiation and trial advocacy.
- Strong legal drafting and research capabilities.
- Proficiency in case management software and legal technology tools.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
