The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a Child Support Officer II to join their team in Bryan, Texas. As a Child Support Officer II, you will play a crucial role in the OAG's mission to encourage responsible parenting and ensure children receive the support they need and deserve. The Child Support Officer II will be responsible for conducting detailed investigations to locate absent parents, establishing paternity, obtaining court orders for financial support and healthcare coverage, enforcing child support orders, and responding to customer inquiries. They will also collaborate with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families. This role offers valuable investigative and legal experience and the opportunity to be part of a dedicated team working towards a common goal. Key responsibilities for this position include: • Conducting detailed in-office investigations to locate parties, verify employment, and determine assets • Preparing legal and administrative documents to establish or enforce child support orders • Negotiating lump sum payments and out-of-court settlements • Monitoring child support cases and taking appropriate enforcement actions • Documenting all case actions using agency tools and reviewing virtual files for accuracy • Attending court to assist legal staff as needed • Researching case information and maintaining knowledge of relevant policies and procedures • Explaining Child Support Program policies to customers and responding to inquiries and complaints • Assessing the validity of complaints against the IV-D program with impartiality • Performing related tasks and maintaining relevant knowledge necessary for the job • Ensuring security and confidentiality of sensitive information • Complying with agency policies and procedures, including those related to ethics and integrity The ideal candidate for this position will have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in fields such as child support, credit collections, investigations, legal assistance, or customer service may be substituted for the required education. The candidate should also have knowledge of investigative practices and techniques, strong multitasking and prioritization skills, and excellent communication abilities. They should also be able to work collaboratively in a professional office environment, provide exceptional customer service, and be willing to travel as needed. Preferred qualifications include graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, knowledge of investigative practices and techniques, and proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish. Applicants must be able to type 35 words per minute and pass a typing test at the time of the interview.
