Armstrong Teasdale LLP is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Associate to join the Patent Group in its offices in Chicago, IL, Kansas City, MO, Las Vegas, NV, Philadelphia, PA, Salt Lake City, UT and St. Louis, MO. The ideal candidate should possess patent preparation and prosecution experience in the software, computer science, electrical or mechanical areas. As an Intellectual Property Associate, you will have an exciting opportunity to learn from and work closely with experienced patent practitioners in a friendly, cooperative environment. Responsibilities include: Handling the high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages of progression, from inception to conclusion Possessing strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills for communicating with attorneys and clients Demonstrating an ability to work independently and productively and show a strong interest in advancing a career in Intellectual Property law Producing quality legal work and billing the required amounts of hours to ensure excellent client services Managing business and generating business through group and individual efforts Complying with the very highest ethical standards of the legal profession The successful candidate should have a degree, with a Bachelor's or higher in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science being preferred. Licensure to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the firm conducts business, and registration to practice before the USPTO is also required. Previous experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm is necessary, with 2-8 years' experience being preferred. The successful applicant will have the ability to actively make decisions on client matters with little supervision, demonstrate strong, professional communication, both written and orally, to both internal and external clients, actively delegate orders, actively embrace learning new skills and mastering new technology, and work as a diligent member of client teams and begin to lead teams in matters. The employee will be required to sit (or utilize a standing desk) for prolonged periods and work on a computer. Travel is estimated at less than 10% of the time.
