In this role, you will play a critical part in our mission to encourage responsible parenting and ensure children receive the support they need and deserve. As a Child Support Officer II, you will conduct investigations, establish paternity, obtain court orders, and enforce child support orders. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families. Responsibilities: - Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents, verify employment, and determine assets - Prepare documents for legal and administrative actions related to child support orders - Negotiate lump sum payments and out-of-court settlements with parties - Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for appropriate enforcement actions - Document all case actions using agency tools and review virtual files for accuracy - Attend court to assist legal staff as needed - Maintain knowledge of child support policies and procedures, Texas Family Law, federal regulations, and other states' IV-D regulations - Explain program policies, procedures, and regulations to customers and respond to inquiries and complaints - Assess the validity of complaints against the program with impartiality - Serve as a Notary Public - Perform related work as assigned - Attend work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon schedule Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred - Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques - Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines - Strong oral and written communication skills - Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making - Willingness to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback - Ability to work collaboratively in a professional office environment - Excellent customer service skills - Ability to work in person at assigned OAG location and perform all assigned tasks at designated work space - Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel - Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with FLSA - Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs. - Ability to travel up to 25%, including overnight travel - Typing speed of 35 words per minute Preferred Qualifications: - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university - Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques - Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish To apply for this position, please submit an electronic application through CAPPS Recruit.
