Job Overview:
A well-established New Jersey-based law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate with 3-5 years of experience to join its growing team. This position offers exposure to a variety of litigation areas, including business, commercial, general equity, probate, and guardianship matters, with the added opportunity to be involved in the firm’s expanding cannabis law practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a passion for litigation. This role provides mentorship from senior attorneys, offering opportunities to develop into an excellent litigator while gaining direct client interaction and court experience.

Duties:
- Handle all phases of litigation, from drafting and responding to pleadings and discovery to arguing motions.
- Litigate a range of matters, including business, commercial, equity, estate, and guardianship issues.
- Gain exposure to the firm's expanding cannabis law practice.
- Draft and argue motions, with the opportunity to take depositions.
- Communicate directly with clients and maintain client relationships.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and paralegals, working across various practice disciplines.
- Assist in trial preparation and appear in court early in your career.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of litigation experience in commercial litigation, general equity matters, and probate litigation.
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in New Jersey.
- Strong research and writing skills, with a solid academic background.
- Ability to draft and respond to pleadings and discovery.
- Experience in drafting and arguing motions and depositions.
- Trial experience is a plus but not required.
- Judicial clerkship experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in a team.
- Ability to manage a high volume of cases while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills and a business-minded approach to litigation.
- Knowledge of local and federal securities laws is preferred.
