# Software/Computer Science Midlevel Patent Associate - Law Firm Law Firm is seeking a mid-level patent attorney with 3-5 years experience with a background in software/computer science. As a Software/Computer Science Midlevel Patent Associate, you will have the opportunity to manage all aspects of a busy patent prosecution practice and collaborate with attorneys, staff, and clients from cultures and backgrounds different from your own. ## Qualifications The ideal candidate for this position should have: * A bachelor’s or advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field and 3-5 years of experience as a patent attorney * Familiarity with the Application Packaging Standard, the use of APIs in software development, machine learning (both supervised and unsupervised) and platforms for providing SaaS * Registration and good standing with the USPTO * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * A team-oriented mentality, and be a motivated self-starter * Flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment * Excellent law school credentials and references ## Responsibilities As a Software/Computer Science Midlevel Patent Associate, you will be responsible for: * Managing all aspects of a busy patent prosecution practice including managing the patent docket and communicating with the USPTO, other attorneys, and clients * Evaluating invention disclosure materials and preparing and prosecuting patent applications for software inventions, including machine learning * Providing technical expertise in computer science, software, and related areas * Conducting IP due diligence reviews and evaluating patentability, freedom to operate, any obstacles to securing a patent or practicing technology, and ongoing issues affecting the patent process * Liaising with clients regarding the domestic and foreign patent application processes and communicating with clients to ensure applications are filed on time and deadlines are met * Conducting and participating in client meetings regarding patent research and application processes * Receiving training opportunities with growing levels of responsibility * Collaborating across practice groups and across offices * Having opportunities for advancement in a collegial environment * Being allowed to work remotely two days per week ## Benefits Law Firm offers competitive salaries and quality benefits programs including an annual stipend to support attorneys’ interests and hobbies outside of the workplace.
