Job Description:

- Full-time position supporting all aspects of advocacy work in the Housing Practice Group
- Manage a caseload and provide full and effective legal representation to individuals
- Interview eligible clients and provide advice and brief services on a wide range of housing issues
- Work with other practice group staff in interdisciplinary work
- Collaborate with Legal Aid Chicago supervisors, staff, students, and volunteers to provide comprehensive legal services
- Participate in complex litigation or advocacy to address systemic issues
- Conduct outreach and training to agencies, advocates, clients, and community groups
- Handle other duties as necessary

Requirements:

- . degree and licensed to practice law in Illinois or able to waive into Illinois bar
- Preferred experience in housing law and eviction defense
- Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and client counseling skills
- Commitment to and experience with client communities and/or people living in poverty
- Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations
