OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: Senior Attorney Positions in the Attorney Discipline Law Department in the Unified Court System in New York

Are you a qualified attorney looking for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity? The Appellate Division, First Department of the Unified Court System in New York is currently recruiting for two Senior Attorney positions in the Attorney Discipline Law Department. This is a non-competitive and confidential position with a base salary of $96,594 plus $4,775 location pay.

POSITION TITLE: Senior Attorney JG: 26
LOCATION: Appellate Division, First Department, 180 Maiden Lane, New York, NY
SALARY: $96,594 + $4,775 Location Pay
QUALIFICATIONS: Admission to the New York State Bar and two (2) years of service in the Attorney title; or equivalent legal experience.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK:
- Work independently to research legal questions and issues
- Organize investigations and prepare and present cases before administrative tribunals and courts
- Provide legal research and advocacy services in various units, such as Mental Hygiene Legal Services and attorney disciplinary committees
- Oversee a departmental law guardian program

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all aspects of the attorney disciplinary process
- Handle a significant caseload and conduct complex investigations
- Perform legal research and litigate cases before Special Referees and the Appellate Division
- Write confidential memoranda, petitions, motions, and legal briefs
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive matters

REQUIREMENTS:
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- Two (2) years of service in the Attorney title or equivalent legal experience
- Ability to manage a significant caseload and conduct complex investigations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive matters in a confidential manner
