## Lead Network Engineer Organization is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to serve as the senior level subject matter expert and provide network strategies to integrate or improve current network systems used throughout the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $83, - $135,. ### Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or closely related field. - Five years (5) of information technology experience that includes responsibility and accountability for monitoring, reviewing, and managing network administration. OR Other combinations of education or experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis. ### Preferred Qualifications - Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field. - Current CCNP Route/Switch (CCIE Preferred) - Experience in an emergency operations environment - Experience in a project implementation lead role. ### Essential Job Tasks The Lead Network Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of all aspects of network communications including local area networks, wide area networks and communications with remote installations. The Lead Network Engineer must be able to: - Provide architecture and administration of LAN technologies of Cisco routers, switches, and ASA firewalls. - Develop and design network solutions to existing and upcoming network opportunities. - Architect a Micro-segmentation solution utilizing VMware NSX. - Audit firmware versions and configurations settings for the network infrastructure (on premise and cloud) to eliminate vulnerabilities and ensure network operates in accordance with vendor recommendations, industry best practices, and compliances. - Configure and implement next generation firewall systems and next generation intrusion protection systems. - Design/architect network solutions that support efficiencies towards the next generation infrastructure. - Comprehend cloud topologies (VPC, Virtual subnets, NACLS, etc.) and be experienced with BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QOS and wireless. - Apply design and implementation experience with load balancing approaches using VMware NSX. - Provide resolution of complex network issues including conflicts, connectivity, and network security issues. - Perform security testing such as vulnerability assessments or penetration tests to identify security misconfigurations or vulnerable states; remediate security issues discovered. - Monitor, upgrade, troubleshoot, and provide maintenance for the network infrastructure. - Design, implement, and operate systems with adherence to industry compliance such as PCI, HIPPA and CJIS. - Develop and execute requests for change (RFC) within the organization as related to the network environment. - Mentor and lead staff; provide tips, techniques, and best practices to be utilized for the infrastructure environment. - Manage all virtual networking to include VMware NSX, and HPE Synergy. - Serve as a technical lead for network projects as well as other critical information technology projects and manage teams/project workflow as needed. - Create process change by integrating new processes with existing ones; communicate changes to impacted teams and functional areas. - Measure the effectiveness of networking initiatives and assist executive management in monitoring and evaluating information technology performance. - Identify opportunities to re-engineer existing solutions to maximize the benefits of the network. - Identify emerging network technologies which could improve the Organization enterprise. - Facilitate strategic customer steering committees and represent the department at various Organization initiatives. - Create and maintain application-related documentation and user manuals. - Work with end users to resolve network and performance related issues. - Partner with the PSAP to understand business processes. - Serve as a system matter expert on all network related functions. ### Working Conditions The Lead Network Engineer will primarily work indoors, but may occasionally be required to work outdoors in temperatures above 90 degrees or below 40 degrees. The Lead Network Engineer must be able to sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, see, read, distinguish colors, bend/kneel, reach, twist, climb, crawl, crouch, balance, wear protective gear, have precise dexterity, lift floor to waist fifty (50) lbs, lift waist to shoulder twenty-five (25) lbs, lift shoulder to overhead twenty (20) lbs, carry fifty (50) lbs for 10 feet, push/pull fifty (50) lbs for 10 feet, handle emergencies, time pressures, high volume of work, handle multiple or complicated tasks, accuracy, decision making, concentration/vigilance, teamwork, and engage leadership. ### Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The Lead Network Engineer must possess knowledge of network architecture in both Cisco and NSX, Cisco routers, switches, and ASA firewalls, Megaport, ExpressRoute, direct connect technologies, broad array of technologies and applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, project control and cost analysis techniques, network and internet-based protocols, VoIP networking and related QoS Settings. The Lead Network Engineer must have skill in applying analytical and strategic problem-solving techniques to critical tasks and developing working solutions for highly complex needs, providing trend analysis and estimating growth of network, making recommendations for accurate upgrades to the network, designing and running mid to large scale implementations of network access control technologies, project managing, prioritizing tasks to accomplish key objectives, and adjusting to multiple changing priorities, maintaining multi-site network, voice, and associated security operations, managing and setting up firewalls and intrusion protection systems, and fiber channel switch configuration and management.
