Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications, ensuring clear and comprehensive representation of complex inventions.
  • Draft persuasive legal arguments to address office actions and secure patent allowances with minimal prosecution history.
  • Develop proactive strategies to navigate issues in patent law, such as subject matter eligibility.
  • Meet client needs and internal productivity targets efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain active communication with clients and team members ensuring deadlines and expectations are met.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training to enhance technical and legal expertise.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, detailed, and persuasive patent applications and office action responses.
  • Strong understanding of current issues in patent law and strategies to address them.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines, managing client budgets, and achieving internal goals.
  • Self-starter with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in one of the following technical disciplines:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Computer Engineering
    • Data Science
    • Physics
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Materials Science

Certifications

  • Active registration number and good standing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) (required for Patent Agent candidates).

Skills

  • Proficiency in technical areas such as computer software, machine learning, and wireless telecommunications.
  • Strong legal writing skills, including drafting clear and comprehensive documents.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for addressing complex legal and technical issues.
