Job Summary:

Our law firm, known as "Law Firm", is seeking a talented and driven individual to join our Data Strategy, Security, and Privacy team as an attorney. This is a lateral associate position, requiring 2-4 years of legal experience, and will focus on data strategy counseling and privacy compliance work. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of evolving laws and their application to data-driven products, as well as experience advising clients on the development of enterprise privacy programs, consumer disclosures, and internal policy documents related to privacy and data use. This is a full-time position located in our various offices throughout the United States.

Job Responsibilities:

- Provide legal advice on privacy and data strategy issues
- Assist in advising clients on the development of enterprise privacy programs
- Analyze the operational impact of draft and newly-enacted privacy legislation
- Draft consumer disclosures and internal policy documents related to privacy and data use
- Identify and address privacy and security risks in product design, operational use cases, and proposed business partnerships
- Assist with incident response and transactional diligence as needed
- Stay up-to-date on evolving laws and regulations related to privacy and data strategy
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations
- Conduct research and draft memos in business-friendly language
- Provide support and guidance to clients on privacy and data strategy matters

Qualifications:

- 2-4 years of legal experience
- Admission to the bar in state of practice
- Experience providing legal advice on privacy and/or data strategy issues
- Familiarity with various US state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act/California Privacy Rights Act, as well as international laws such as COPPA, GDPR, BIPA, GLBA, and VPPA
- Strong communication skills and ability to draft memos in business-friendly language
- Prior experience in technology, such as software development or employment at a tech company, is helpful
- CIPP/US certification preferred

Salary Information:

The salary range for this position is $225,000 - $310,000 per year, dependent on experience and location. Our firm is committed to pay transparency and compliance with state and city laws, including the New York State Pay Transparency Law, New York City Human Rights Law, the Colorado Equal Pay Act, and the California Pay Transparency Law.
