Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses
• Analyze patent and scientific papers and documents to assist patent attorneys on patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions
• Communicate with clients and attorneys to gather information and provide updates
• Work with a team to develop strategies for patent prosecution and counseling
• Stay up-to-date on industry trends and changes in patent law
• Assist with drafting legal opinions and conducting legal research as needed
• Maintain accurate and organized records of patent applications and related documents

Qualifications and Skills:

• Degree in material science, chemical, mechanical or biomedical engineering (or a related field)
• Substantive industry experience in material science and/or chemical engineering
• Registered US patent agent or eligible to sit for USPTO registration exam
• Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Advanced degree is a plus
