The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a Child Support Officer II (CSO II) to join their team in Beaumont, Texas. As a CSO II, you will conduct detailed investigations and work with state agencies and community organizations to ensure children receive the support they need and deserve. Job Title: Child Support Officer II Salary: $3, - $3, (Monthly) Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in full-time Child Support Program, credit collections, investigations, legal assistant, legal secretary, customer service, or IV-A eligibility specialist. Location: Beaumont, Texas Organization: Office of the Attorney General Department: Child Support Division (CSD) Job Description: As a Child Support Officer II, you will be responsible for conducting detailed investigations to locate absent parents, establish paternity, obtain court orders for financial support and health care coverage for children, and enforce child support orders. You will also respond to customer inquiries and collaborate with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families. Responsibilities: • Conduct detailed in-office investigations to locate parties, verify employment, and determine assets • Prepare legal and administrative documents to establish or enforce child support orders • Negotiate lump sum payments and out-of-court settlements with noncustodial parents • Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for enforcement actions • Document all case actions using appropriate agency tools • Review and maintain child support virtual files for accuracy • Attend court to assist legal staff, as needed • Research case information on the computer • Stay updated on child support policies, procedures, and regulations • Explain Child Support Program policies and procedures to customers • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints • Assess the validity of complaints against the program • Serve as a Notary Public • Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related fields • Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Sound judgment and effective decision-making skills • Ability to receive and respond positively to feedback • Strong teamwork and customer service skills • Ability to work in-person at assigned OAG work location and perform all assigned tasks in-person with coworkers • Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed • Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs. • Ability to travel up to 5% (including overnight travel) • Ability to type 35 words per minute (Typing test required at time of interview) Preferred Qualifications: • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university • Strong language skills in Spanish • Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 software, scanning and indexing software programs, and Adobe Acrobat Pro software To Apply: To apply for this position, you can submit an electronic application through either CAPPS Recruit or Work in Texas.
