Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm in Columbia, MD, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with at least two years of experience in complex litigation. This role involves representing clients in employment law matters and professional license defense cases. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented legal professional who can manage cases independently, advocate effectively in court, and provide strategic legal counsel to clients.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies such as the EEOC and MSPB.
  • Draft legal pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Provide legal advice on employment law and professional licensing defense matters.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and represent clients in mediation.
  • Conduct depositions, court appearances, and trials.
  • Contribute to legal publications, webinars, and firm-led thought leadership.
  • Meet billable hour expectations while maintaining a high standard of work.
  • Stay current on employment and administrative law developments.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of complex litigation experience (employment law experience preferred but not required).
  • Active license to practice law in Maryland (DC bar admission is a plus).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience litigating federal cases, including handling summary judgment motions.
  • Must have first-chaired at least one deposition.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Maryland State Bar (DC Bar preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong case management and organizational skills.
