Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Mid-Level Patent Associate Attorney with at least 2 years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Robotics. The role involves handling patent analysis, opinions of counsel, and IPRs, with additional emphasis on portfolio management. The ability to adapt to evolving skills and firm needs, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a team are crucial for success.

Duties:

• Conducting patent prosecution focusing on Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Data Science, ML, or Robotics.
• Managing patent portfolios and providing strategic advice on portfolio development.
• Involvement in patent analysis, opinions of counsel, and Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs).
• Handling matters related to blockchain, distributed ledgers, video codec, cloud platforms and computing.
• Learning and embracing new skills and best practices as the position evolves.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house.
• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Data Science, ML, or Robotics.
• Admission to the USPTO is a plus.
• Experience with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus.

Education:

• Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Data Science, ML, or Robotics.

Certifications:

• Admission to the USPTO is a plus.
