Responsibilities:

• Handling a caseload involving substantial litigation defense, including workers compensation
• Drafting pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda
• Conducting legal research and responding to written discovery and dispositive motions
• Preparing and taking depositions of parties and experts
• Reviewing client documents and drafting case evaluations and status report correspondence
• Reviewing, assessing, and handling matters from inception to trial
• Assisting with and participating in mediations and court appearances
• Interacting directly with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff

Requirements:

• At least two years defense litigation experience
• Prior experience in workers compensation defense preferred, but not required

• Ability to proactively work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong legal research and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail with superb organization and prioritization skills
• Knowledge of state and federal court procedures
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel and Outlook, and navigating the internet
