A law firm in Belleville, IL, is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-7 years of substantive experience to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively on various litigation matters, including personal injury, product liability, commercial litigation, construction litigation, employment law, and worker's compensation. This shareholder track position offers a competitive salary and a bonus system based on merit and productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with a team on various litigation matters.
    • Assist with case management, ensuring efficient progress of cases.
  • Legal Research and Document Preparation:

    • Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case strategies.
    • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents with superior skill.
  • Discovery Management:

    • Manage complex discovery processes, including document production and review.
    • Prepare and respond to discovery requests, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
  • Court Representation:

    • Attend court hearings and depositions.
    • Engage in motion practice and other courtroom activities.
  • Client Interaction and Case Management:

    • Maintain effective communication with clients to provide updates and obtain necessary information.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships through consistent and clear communication.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of substantive experience in litigation.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage complex discovery and litigation processes.
  • Courtroom experience, including motion practice and hearings.
  • Superior skills at drafting pleadings and motions.
  • Strong academic qualifications.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois or Missouri, with a willingness to obtain the additional license if not already licensed in both states.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the Illinois or Missouri State Bar (must obtain both licenses if not already held).

Skills:

  • Excellent litigation skills, particularly in the areas of personal injury, product liability, commercial litigation, construction litigation, employment law, and worker's compensation.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective client communication and team collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and within a team environment.
