Salary: Commensurate with experience Job Title: Helpline Paralegal/Administrative Support Staff Experience: At least 2 years as a paralegal or related experience and/or training Location: Norristown (Montgomery County), PA Organization: Legal Aid of Southeastern PA (“LASP”) Department: Centralized Telephone Intake Helpline Summary: Legal Aid of Southeastern PA is seeking a full-time Paralegal/Administrative Support Staff for their Centralized Telephone Intake Helpline. The organization serves low-income individuals from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties with legal issues related to housing, family, domestic violence, consumer, employment, and public benefits. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to quickly analyze legal issues and provide sound advice under the supervision of a licensed attorney. The salary will be based on experience and the organization's personnel policy. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required, with exemptions available for medical or religious reasons. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform clerical duties to assist other Helpline advocates - Maintain files of correspondence and legal documents - Triage calls and evaluate the merit of cases - Interview applicants and clients by phone - Create and maintain case files in LASP’s computer case management system - Manage a caseload - Organize information and use technical resources - Participate in LASP team efforts - Develop knowledge of relevant law and community referral resources - Ensure grant and contract requirements are met - Abide by professional and ethical standards - Other duties as assigned Supervisor: Helpline Supervising Attorney or other assigned supervisor Qualifications: - Associates or bachelor’s degree - At least 2 years’ experience as a paralegal or related experience and/or training - Proficiency in computer technology, including Microsoft products, record and timekeeping software, and routine database activity - Excellent communication, time management, and organization skills - Spanish language fluency is desirable Equal Opportunity Employer: LASP is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in recruitment, selection, or advancement of employees on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other prohibited basis.
