Job Overview:

A reputable law firm is looking to hire a Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Junior Associate with 2-3 years of experience in privacy law. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team and gain hands-on experience in privacy incident response, compliance counseling, and privacy litigation. The ideal candidate will have experience with federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and state-specific biometric and health laws. The firm offers a hybrid work schedule with in-office expectations and is open to applicants from multiple office locations, with Chicago and Dallas being the preferred locations.

Location:

  • McAllen, TX

Duties:

  • Assist in privacy incident response, risk management, and compliance counseling.
  • Advise clients on privacy-related matters, including federal and state regulations such as CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric laws.
  • Participate in privacy litigation matters, supporting strategy development and legal proceedings.
  • Draft and review privacy contracts, policies, and data protection agreements.
  • Conduct research on evolving privacy laws and ensure clients remain in compliance.
  • Provide legal guidance to clients in managing privacy risks and legal obligations.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or a related area of law.
  • Knowledge of privacy incident response, risk management, compliance counseling, and privacy litigation.
  • Familiarity with state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric privacy laws.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases efficiently.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • CIPP/US certification required (must obtain within one year of hire if not already certified).
  • Admission to the State Bar in the jurisdiction where the associate will be practicing.
