A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to join its team in Chicago, IL, or St. Louis, MO, handling local and national accounts. The firm specializes in insurance defense litigation, including toxic tort, complex product liability, general liability, and professional liability cases. Duties

  • Manage a litigation caseload independently, from inception to resolution.
  • Draft, review, and respond to discovery requests.
  • Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
  • Prepare and argue motions in state and federal courts.
  • Provide trial preparation, including developing strategies and supporting lead counsel.
  • Investigate case facts and build a comprehensive defense strategy.
  • Prepare witnesses for depositions and trial testimony.
  • Represent clients in court hearings and trials across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain meticulous time records and documentation.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
  • 1-5 years of litigation experience.
  • Active admission to practice in Illinois (admission to additional states, such as Missouri, Texas, California, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, or Iowa, is a plus).
  • Demonstrated experience with motion practice and depositions.
  • Proven ability to independently manage caseloads and litigation tasks.
  • Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Strong communication and critical reasoning skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active admission to the Illinois Bar (additional bar admissions preferred).

Skills

  • Proficiency in case strategy development and trial preparation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Skilled in analyzing legal and factual issues critically.
  • Adept at building and maintaining client relationships.
