Cooley Law Firm is seeking a Business Intake & Conflicts Specialist (Laterals) to join their team. This full-time position is essential to the firm's compliance with ethical obligations and risk management policies and procedures. The BIC Specialist will work closely with the Associate Director of Conflicts and other department leaders to assist with case law research, policy drafting, and lateral candidate submissions. Other responsibilities include monitoring the BIC inbox, processing intake reviews, and providing training to new hires. Position Summary: - Business Intake & Conflicts Specialist (Laterals) - Full-time position at Cooley Law Firm - Essential for firm's compliance with ethical obligations and risk management policies and procedures - Works closely with the Associate Director of Conflicts and other department leaders - Responsible for case law research, policy drafting, and lateral candidate submissions - Monitors BIC inbox, processes intake reviews, and provides training to new hires Position Responsibilities: Primary Laterals: - Review incoming conflict check submission forms - Create lateral folders and update spreadsheets - Communicate with recruiting/HR and attorneys regarding lateral intake - Maintain cross-reference database - Run conflict reports and clear contract attorneys as needed Primary New Business: - Monitor BIC inbox and respond to inquiries regarding status of requests - Communicate with secretaries, attorneys, and other business professionals - Run conflict reports as needed Operations: - Process and quality control assigned intake review queue's - Assist with review and filing of waiver and engagement letters - Complete final party linking as assigned Other: - Provide training to new hires on systems and tasks - Lead and manage system and information clean-up projects - Understand ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct and jurisdictional differences - Conduct research projects on conflicts of interest and corporate affiliations - Assist with ethical screen database clean up - Other duties as assigned or required Skills and Experience: Required: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iManage, and other firm applications - Available for overtime as needed - 3+ years of applicable experience (BIC department, legal secretary, paralegal, or executive assistant) - Strong computer skills Preferred: - Bachelor's degree - Paralegal certificate - Experience in a law firm or professional services environment Competencies: - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks - Takes initiative on time-sensitive issues - Punctual and reliable Salary Information: - Expected hourly pay range: - - Final offer amount dependent on location, experience, and skillset Benefits: - Competitive compensation and benefits package - Committed to fair and equitable employment practices - Full range of elective benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and flexible spending accounts - Firm-paid life insurance, AD&D, LTD, and short-term medical benefits - 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) and 10 paid holidays per year - Generous parental leave and fertility benefits - Detailed benefit orientation for new employees to learn about all benefits and resources Cooley Law Firm is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
