Job Description:
Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) is seeking a full-time staff attorney for our Veterans Advocacy Project. The staff attorney will provide extended civil services to low-income veterans and their families in a wide range of legal matters. This includes housing, probate, benefits, consumer, employment, homelessness, and family law. The attorney will also collaborate with community partners to ensure integrated services and address systemic barriers facing veterans.

Responsibilities:
- Evaluate clients' claims and assess civil legal remedies
- Provide direct representation to clients in all stages of litigation and advocacy
- Counsel individuals seeking civil legal assistance
- Establish and maintain relationships with community partners
- Support civil legal services for veterans in the TRLA service area
- Participate in education and outreach efforts to raise awareness of legal issues facing low-income veterans and their families

Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited university
- Licensed to practice law in Texas or willing to take the next available Texas bar exam
- Dedication to and experience in serving low-income populations
- Experience working with veterans and community services/partners
- Fluent in English and Spanish, written and spoken
