Law Firm Seeking Experienced Paralegal for Long Term Care Defense and Medical Malpractice Defense Cases - Full-Time, Asheville, NC Location

The law firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced paralegal to join our team in providing support for attorneys in the various aspects of litigation related to case preparation, management, and execution. Our ideal candidate will have experience in Long Term Care defense and/or Medical Malpractice defense.

Responsibilities:
- Obtaining, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing legal documentation pertaining to cases
- Scheduling depositions and other meetings with clients, witnesses, experts, opposing counsel, and court reporters
- Identifying, locating, interviewing, and evaluating potential experts
- Tracking requests for documents and regularly following up on progress
- Regularly reviewing files and proactively working to move cases forward
- Documenting files and providing updates to clients as needed
- Participating in all aspects of discovery and file or trial preparation as required
- Preparing draft discovery documents
- Maintaining an expert database and researching opposing counsel's experts
- Making travel arrangements and providing necessary information to attorneys
- Performing research on legal issues and precedents related to cases
- Filing documents with various courts
- Performing clerical duties such as typing and filing as needed

Requirements:
- Associate's degree or certified paralegal education
- Knowledge of legal principles and practices
- Knowledge of various courts, their rules, and filing requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with attorneys, staff, and clients
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Attention to detail for accurate and timely performance of job duties
- Impeccable integrity in handling confidential matters
- Typing speed of 45 wpm and proficiency in computer and office equipment
- Willingness to work more than 40 hours per week if needed
- Ability to sit, bend, stoop, type, and use office equipment for extended periods
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. or more if needed
- Valid driver's license for potential travel to offsite locations

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- 3+ years of experience in litigation
- Certified Paralegal or Paralegal Certificate
