Benefits and Compensation Details:

The anticipated range for this position is:
$225,000 - $370,000

Depending on the role, the actual base salary offered may depend upon a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance. Additional information about employee eligibility for benefits and discretionary bonus will be made available upon request.

Job Description:

Law Firm is seeking a patent associate with at least one year of legal practice experience, preferably at a law firm, for our life sciences practice in either our Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, or Washington . The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or MD) in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, microbiology, oncology or a related field. Post-doctoral experience is desirable but not required. Member of the California, Washington State, New York, or Washington . Bar required (admission to the Bar in the jurisdiction where the work is being performed is required). A USPTO registration number, superior academic credentials, excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills a must.

Job Responsibilities:

- Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on a wide variety of patent prosecution matters
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications in the life sciences field
- Prepare responses to patent office action
- Manage and direct foreign patent prosecution
- Manage patent portfolios
- Interact with clients to provide status updates and legal advice
- Assist in the preparation of patent opinions
- Assist in the identification and analysis of patentable inventions
- Assist in the development of patent strategies

Job Requirements:

- PhD (or MD) in related field
- Member of the California, Washington State, New York, or Washington . Bar
- USPTO registration number
- Superior academic credentials
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
