Job Title: Senior Defense Litigation Associate Attorney - General Liability

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm located in White Plains, NY, seeks an experienced Senior Defense Litigation Associate to join their team. This position primarily involves defending clients in general and premises liability cases, along with product liability matters in New York, New Jersey, and federal courts. The firm represents a diverse range of clients, including senior living facilities, healthcare providers, building owners, and manufacturers of FDA-regulated products.

Duties:

  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Conduct legal, medical, and scientific research, collaborating with senior attorneys to develop case strategies.
  • Draft detailed memoranda, motions (including motions for summary judgment), discovery documents, and pleadings.
  • Write reports for clients, such as deposition summaries, medical record analyses, and case valuations.
  • Work closely with expert witnesses and coordinate their involvement in cases.
  • Participate in trial, mediation, and ADR preparation and planning.
  • Represent clients in courtroom appearances, including oral argument of motions and discovery conferences.
  • Maintain a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually.

Requirements:

  • 6-10+ years of first-chair deposition and courtroom experience in general/premises liability and/or product liability.
  • Must be admitted to the New York Bar; New Jersey Bar admission is a plus.
  • Must have a Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and be an active member in good standing with the bar.
  • Extensive familiarity with New York Courts.
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to innovate and function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong independent work ethic with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated conscientiousness, self-discipline, and responsibility.
  • Professional and flexible attitude with the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and client relations skills.
  • Military experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active member in good standing of the New York Bar (New Jersey Bar is a plus).

Skills:

  • Strong litigation experience in general/premises and product liability.
